Community Service

WORKING TOGETHER

(DAY OF SERVICE EVENTS This MAY)

“Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is
progress; working together is success.” – Henry Ford

There are many organizations we can help and many ways to help. The following list are organizations that could use your help. Our goal during this focused month of service is to share with our friends the different ways we can work together to strengthen our community, our relationships, and help us all to be more like Jesus. Our primary focus is to serve by giving of our time and substance to support those who stand in need in our community. Invite friends, schools, churches and businesses to join us in these projects.

What Can You Do?

Service

(And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God. Mosiah 2:19)

Be like Jesus.

John 21:6

And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye
shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it
for the multitude of fishes.

Mark 6:41-44

41 And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all. 42 And they did all eat, and were filled. 43 And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes. 44 And they that did eat of the loaves were about afive thousand men.

Foodbank LogoJesus fed people every where he went. Work with us to feed 5000.  Mothers provide us with meals and will give us the food off her plate. As we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Mother’s Day Holiday lets share and give to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC by providing 5000 meals for families in need. To accomplish this task we need  at least 40 volunteers to deliver and collect 100 lbs boxes of food from your work churches or schools (2 Tons of food).

Donating Money          $205.00  so far     1025 meals

(What more do I lack, Jesus Said “If thou wilt be aperfect, go and sell that thou hast, and bgive to the cpoor, and thou shalt have dtreasure in heaven: and come and efollow me.” Matthew 19:21)

FoodBankRepFor those who are too busy to serve you can still help by Donating money to the  Working Together 100th Mother’s Day anniversary Food Drive or by helping us share the food drive via Facebook, Twitter or Email with your Friends and Family. Our goal is to make our mothers proud by our raising  $1000.00 It will allow us to help other mothers provide for their Families. Which is the same number of meals Jesus  shared with the 5000. Every dollar you give it will equate to 4 Meals.

Hey all –

I had a few questions about the YELP event and how to RSVP and be a part of this great night.

*** You need to be a Yelp member to attend, but signing up is EASY. Please see the highlighted yellow section at the end of this email. Click on the RSVP link and it will guide you. It took me 30 seconds at best. Once you sign up you may RSVP to the event AND bring a plus 1 who is NOT a Yelp member.***  OR go to Yelp.com and create a yelp account.

***My favorite question was, and I got it a few times………”Is this for real?” YES! $5…..beer, wine, food, music, beautiful Sunday night down in City Market…..What more could you want to draw close your weekend?

***Another question….”Do we really get 100% of the proceeds?” YES – we do! The social media director of Yelp is an acquaintance of mine and a really good friend of volunteer, Laura Riddle. Thanks to Laura for talking up Special Spaces of the Triangle and making this possible.

***”Can I forward the Yelp event email and information to friends, family and neighbors?” PLEASE DO! We need people there to make it a success.

***”Can I volunteer?” Yes – we will have a booth there….or a table…something low key, but a presence nonetheless. We’d love volunteers there, wearing their shirts and giving out information and hopefully procuring some donations. People that pay $5 for a night on the town have bound to have some extra money in their wallets! Thanks to Jud Vickery for offering to be there to take photos. Yes, Jud…please 🙂

SO….here is the email once again. RSVP date is MAY 23rd – that’s a rock solid RSVP date. You must RSVP to attend. But again – page down to the yellow highlighted portion and follow the simple directions.
